Alright, here’s my overly extensive write up of the NYCC Marvel TV panel, complete with rough drawings of what the video looked like. If you want to know what really happened, the exact order things went down in, and how certain quotes should have been taken, read on. But be warned, get some cocoa and sit somewhere comfy, because as usual, I wrote a thesis.
……
I’m starting to get a wee bit annoyed at all the articles about the Whedon/Feige video at Marvel TV panel at NYCC that 1) aren’t mentioning the context of Whedon’s comments and an extra comment he added in because of a thing that happened, 2) aren’t mentioning the gag at the very end of the video and 3) aren’t mentioning Whedon’s line from the very beginning of the video. Also, some articles are flat out misquoting the whole thing. Digital Spy, I’m looking square at you.
So… I’m kind of on the verge of storyboarding out the video so everyone can see a very rough idea of how the video looked and how the build up to it actually went down, because it would sure as hell be more accurate than anything I’ve read so far.
Would anyone be interested? Or is the video online somewhere I don’t know about? Because it’s a real shame if no one gets to see it.
Got to the con early, some stuff happened, blah, blah, blah, blah
…
And then a wild Clark Gregg appeared. I was third row, right up front sitting next to a cluster of other coulson lives fans. He’s just as dashing and marvelous as you think he is in real life.
After the really great Coulson memorial video they put together, Clark started listing off all the revival theories people came up with, which eventually led to the entire room clapping to bring Coulson back to life, ala Tinkerbell.
And then bam, the Whedon and Feige video started playing. And then I lost my shit. My mind seriously crumpled into itself. The video was absolutely the best and funniest way to announce this. They really need to put it up online because everyone needs to see it. So God damn gratifying seeing Feige walk into frame wearing a coulson lives shirt.
I’m still in shock from today, I’ll be able to put together a more concise report later from the panel when I’m back at my laptop, but for now…
COULSON LIVES!!!!!!!
I’m on to you, Lego Hulk…
I met Rob Paulsen. I gave him a framed piece of art I did of him with some of his characters. He gave me the biggest, most honest hug I’ve had in a long time after I told him he’s one of the main reasons why I’m an artist, kept an interest in comic books and animation and followed my passions. To go immediately from a Daily Show taping to meeting Rob… I’m in nerd shock.
He just tweeted about NYCC again. A-G-A-I-N. Uh huh. Right. I’m sitting here trying not to get my hopes too far up, but dang it Clark, you’re making it tough.
